Japan’s economy shrinks 1.8% as US tariffs hit exports

Japan’s economy shrank at an annualized rate of 1.8% in the July-September quarter, marking the first contraction in six quarters, as US tariffs delivered a blow to the export-reliant nation. The preliminary data released Monday by the Cabinet Office showed the quarter-on-quarter decline of 0.4% was less severe than the 2.5% drop economists had forecast.Read more…
